The Best Beginner Scuba Courses in Thailand (and Why Ours Are Different)

There’s no shortage of beginner dive courses in Thailand, but let’s be honest—not all of them are created equal. At Thai Ocean Academy, we believe your first scuba course should be more than just a box to tick. It should build real skills, real confidence, and set you up for a lifetime of safe, enjoyable diving.

We teach the RAID Open Water 20 and Explorer 30 programs, which include a strong focus on buoyancy, trim, and control—not just checking skills off a list. You’ll train with a backplate and wing BCD setup from day one (no bulky jacket-style BCDs here), and we keep classes small—usually just 1 to 3 students.

All of our ocean training happens in Pattaya, where we dive 7 days a week. That gives you flexibility to train on weekends or build a custom schedule that fits your life. You’ll complete eLearning before arrival, so when you get here, we focus on what matters—diving.

Our instructors are more than just scuba pros—they’re marine biologists and educators who care about turning out divers who understand the ocean, not just use it.

If you’re ready to do your first course right—with people who care about doing it right—then let’s go diving.
