Conservation and Marine Science in Pattaya

Citizen Science at Thai Ocean Academy

At Thai Ocean Academy, we believe that every dive has the potential to make a difference. Our Citizen Science programs offer divers the opportunity to contribute to vital marine conservation efforts while exploring Thailand’s rich underwater ecosystems.

  • MARsci Ocean Clean Up Program: Join our MARsci (Marine Science) Ocean Clean Up dives, where we actively remove debris from local dive sites, helping to preserve the health of our coral reefs and marine habitats. Our divers are trained to safely and effectively clean up the ocean, contributing to a global effort to combat marine pollution.

  • Neptune’s Cup Sponge Growth & Survey Program: The once-thought-extinct Neptune’s Cup Sponge is making a remarkable comeback in Pattaya’s waters, and we’re leading the charge in studying its recovery. Our ongoing surveys and growth rate monitoring of these rare sponges provide crucial data for scientists and conservationists alike. Divers can assist in gathering information on this iconic species, playing a direct role in its protection.

  • Conservation Diver EMP Program: As part of the Conservation Diver initiative, we follow the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) to assess the health of coral reefs and marine environments. Our trained divers collect essential data on water quality, biodiversity, and ecosystem health, ensuring a sustainable future for Thailand’s marine life.

Whether you’re an experienced diver or new to the underwater world, our Citizen Science programs offer an exciting way to dive with purpose. Join us in protecting our oceans—one dive at a time.
