RAID DIVEMASTER TRAINING

The RAID Dive Master Training Program at Thai Ocean Academy is designed for passionate scuba divers ready to take their first step into a professional diving career. Exceeding industry standards, this comprehensive program equips you with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience to become a confident and qualified Dive Master.

Program Goals: This program prepares you to assist RAID instructors during training sessions, supervise and organize recreational diving activities, accompany students during surface swims and navigation exercises, conduct Local Area Orientation dives for certified divers, conduct open-circuit refresher skills in confined water, and potentially lead limited Specialty courses. You will also learn to conduct Try Dive programs (after becoming a Try Dive Instructor), and be prepared for the Instructor Development Program.

Prerequisites: To be eligible for the program, you must be at least 18 years old, certified as a RAID Nitrox and RAID Deep 40 diver (or equivalent), hold a RAID Master Rescue diver certification (or equivalent), have completed a minimum of 15 logged underwater hours and 45 dives (with at least 35 dives post-advanced training), have experience in Navigation and Night/Limited Diving, hold a current RAID First AID and O2 certification (or equivalent), present a medical certificate within the previous 12 months stating you're fit to dive, and complete the registration process including all required paperwork.

Course Options: We offer flexible course options to suit your needs: the Check the Box Dive Master (a three-week intensive program), the Dive Master Internship (a six-month program with unlimited diving), and the Part-time Dive Master Course (flexible schedule with pay-as-you-go session fees).

Course Requirements: The program involves online e-learning, academic presentations, quizzes, exams, and completing skill requirements.

Our program involves:

Online e-learning or mobile APP, academic presentations, quizzes, exam.
Skill Requirements: Complete the skill requirements as specified by the RAID Divemaster manual, including:
- Equipment
- Physics of diving
- Medical issues related to diving
- Use of diving tables and dive computers
- Diving environment
- Dive planning and dive management
- Communications (underwater and on the surface)
- Recommended safe diving practices
- Boat diving procedures
- Night diving procedures
- Limited visibility diving procedures
- Deep diving procedures
- Tides and currents
- Limitations of diving with no direct access to the surface

Minimum Logged Underwater Time: Complete the course with a minimum of 6 hours logged underwater in Open Water. (You may complete additional hours in your own time to fulfill course tasks).
Competency in Scuba Skills: Demonstrate sufficient understanding and knowledge of all topics to plan and execute dives in typical local conditions and to plan for and respond to emergencies. This includes:
- Review Personal Diving skills
- Stamina exercises
- Basic recreational diver assistance/rescue
- Environment Dive Mapping
- Certification as a Deep 40 diver or equivalent
- Underwater visibility
- Dive Leadership, group size, and experience
- Organizational skills
- Risk Management Schedules and knowledge of local regulations and guidelines
- Assisting and Conducting Programs with RAID instructors
- Equipment use and care
- Currents, tides, and local water conditions
- Variable surface conditions
- Variable water temperatures.
Try Dive Experiences: Conduct Try Dive (confined water only) experiences for at least 6 students or simulate 2 (confined water only) Try Dive programs under the supervision of the RAID Divemaster instructor.
Compressor Operator Certification: Be certified as a RAID Compressor Operator or equivalent before certification or prior to assisting with tank fills throughout the course.
Knot Tying Workshop: Complete a Knot tying workshop anytime prior to certification.
Rescue Skills Review: Review all rescue skills prior to phase 2 of training and be evaluated on a complete rescue scenario.
Minimum Program Duration: The program must be a minimum of 40 hours.
Supervision: The course must be conducted by a certified RAID Divemaster instructor.
Certification: To be certified, you must have logged at least 60 open water dives with a total accumulated underwater time of 30 hours.

Check the Box Dive Master (3-week program): quick and dirty DMT program over three weeks. — THB 60,000
Dive Master Internship (6 months unlimited diving): Immerse yourself in the diving world with an extended internship offering unlimited diving. — THB 85,000
Part-time Dive Master Course (Flexible schedule): Pay as you go for each session, allowing you to balance training with other commitments.
- Classroom Session Cost: THB 1,500 (per session, 11-13 sessions)
- Pool Session Cost: THB 2,500 (per session, 4-8 sessions)
- Ocean Session Cost: THB 3,500 (per session, 6-10 sessions)

For a complete experience, we offer the following packages:

Standard Package: Training, equipment rental when there is equipment to use.
Deluxe Package: Includes accommodation and unlimited diving during the course. Accommodation costs are an additional THB 8,500 per month for a private room with a fridge and microwave.
Premium Package: Deluxe package plus additional workshops on marine conservation and advanced dive techniques. This package is an additional THB 15,000 on top of the chosen course option.

Frequently Asked Questions About Advanced Scuba Training

I have not Dived in 1 year, Can I start my Advanced training or do I need a Refresher?

Typically our instructors will review all basic diving skills during the Buoyancy dive, and this is what you would get in a refresher day. So although you can book an additional day its typically not needed.

Do I get to choose the 5 dives for the Advanced training?

Yes and No, there is some flexibility, but it is required that you do 3 of the dives: 1. Deep Dive 2. Buoyancy Dive 3. Navigation dive. You can select 2 other dives, however we have found people always choose to do a Wreck dive and either a drift or a naturalist dive.

Is RAID Recognized by other dive agencies?

YES! RAID and all other major dive agencies follow RSTC standards, which keep us all in line with each other. So when you want to do your next level of training, your RAID certification will be sufficient to meet requirments.
